It would be hard to picture what transportation in London would look like without the AEC Routemaster.
Pictured is London Transport Bus 1133 of the RM class, which began service between 1956 and 1958. Just over 2,100 of these signature bright red, double-decker buses were made and were retired from service in 2005.
At least one made its way to Illinois, and it was on display at the Illinois Railway Museum's Vintage Transportation Day, Sunday, August 2, 2025.
Apparently this bus lives in Central Illinois, so I have to wonder how it makes clearance for most U.S. underpasses.
