Members of Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) "Nighthawks" clean and perform maintenance on the Sikorsky VH-60N "White Hawk" helicopter Friday afternoon, July 2, 2021, at United States Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City. President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Traverse City Saturday, but details have yet to be released on what the visit entails. The VH-60N's nickname "White Hawk" comes from its white livery and modifications necessary to transport the President and Vice President of the United States. It's a modified UH-60 "Black Hawk," which is named after the Native American war leader Black Hawk. When the aircraft has the President of the United States on board, its callsign is designated as "Marine One." If it is carrying the Vice President without the President onboard, its callsign is then "Marine Two." Entering service in 1987, the VH-60N is a newer, smaller, version of the Sikorsky VH-3D Sea King. By 2009 there were 11 VH-3Ds and eight VH-60Ns in service for use by the President or other White House officials.
